JOHN LEE HOOKER LEGACY SPIRITS
John Lee Hooker Legacy Spirits is a spirits brand inspired by the legendary blues musician John Lee Hooker. Founded by mother and son Zakiya Hooker and Glenn Thomas in 2023 to honor their father and grandfather, John Lee Hooker, and their shared love of bourbon. The first offering will be Boogie Chillen’ Bourbon 1948, a blended whiskey composed of corn, rye, and malted barley, aged for a minimum of four years in new American oak barrels distilled at Bardstown Bourbon Company. The result is a smooth, flavorful bourbon with a hint of sweetness, and packaged in a distinctive bottle that features a portrait of John Lee Hooker.
Named after Hooker’s 1948 debut record, “Boogie Chillen’,” and the first "down-home" electric blues song to reach number one in the R&B records chart, Boogie Chillen’ Bourbon 1948 (SRP $112)is crafted with the finest blends of corn, rye, and malted barley and aged for a minimum of four years in new charred American oak barrels in Bardstown, Kentucky. The result is a smooth, flavorful bourbon with a hint of sweetness, packaged in an elegant bottle that features a portrait of John Lee Hooker.
The bourbon is packaged in high-quality glass and a distinctive and elegant label, emphasizing the quality of the liquid and the brand. The label features a portrait of John Lee Hooker, guitar by his side, and emanates a timeless aura. Surrounding the photograph are is a quote from John Lee Hooker, rendered in elegant calligraphy with the shape of his guitar in the logo, evoking memories of his soul-stirring performances.

As a Realtor and Mortgage Advisor licensed in multiple states, Thomas has boned his sales skills, investment knowledge, and guidance to run a successful realty group with high-end clients.. As the Co-Founder of Boogie Chillen’ Bourbon, Glenn is proud to bring the story of his grandfather and keep the Hooker legacy alive one delicious bottle of bourbon at a time.

As the daughter of renowned blues musician John Lee Hooker, Zakiya was privileged to see and hear some of the greats that shaped the history of blues and modern music. As the daughter of a music legend, Zakiya naturally chose to follow in her father’s footsteps in music and is now pursuing another passion of her father’s: bourbon. As the Co-Founder of Boogie Chillen’ Bourbon, Zaikya Hooker is ready to carry her father’s bourbon glass and blues torch into the new age of the whiskey world.
